Cookie Policy

What this site stores on your device, which is very little.

The short version

This site sets no advertising cookies, runs no cross site trackers, loads no third party embeds, and does not build a profile of you. There is no analytics on it at all. Nothing here is measuring you, so there is nothing here to opt out of.

The one thing we store

The cookie notice you saw on your first visit records your answer, and only your answer. It is written to your browser's local storage under the key nb-cookie-choice, with a value of either accepted or declined. It exists so the notice can stop asking.

It is local storage rather than a cookie on purpose: a cookie would be sent to the server with every request you make, and this does not need to leave your device. It holds no identifier, it is not read by anything else, and clearing your site data removes it. If you clear it, the notice will ask once more.

What declining changes

Honestly, nothing you would notice, because there is nothing switched on to switch off. Declining is recorded so we stop asking, and that recording is the strictly necessary kind: it is the mechanism by which your no is respected.

Until you answer either way, nothing at all is written. That is the default, and it is deliberately the private one.

If that changes

If analytics is ever added, this page will name the tool, say what it measures, and the notice will ask before it loads rather than after. Until you read that here, assume nothing is measuring you.

Controlling storage yourself

Every browser lets you block and clear site storage, and doing so will not break anything on this site. If you have a question about any of this, write to hello@trynorthbound.io.
